Have you taken your family to Scarborough Renaissance Festival here in the Dallas Fort-Worth area yet this Spring? Here’s what you need to know to plan your trip.
Thank you to Al’s Formal Wear for partnering with me to bring you this post. When my daughter was around 3 or 4, our city held a Father Daughter Dance. I brought my daughter on a whim. And it changed both our lives. Every year since then, my daughter has asked throughout the year “when …
You girls know the things we guys should never wear, but some of you are too nice to tell us. You’re not doing yourself or us a favor by keeping it secret.
I don’t think I’m the only guy in the world who has trouble with gift giving. I want to find the perfect gift, and I’m willing to put in the work! But I always end up second guessing my choices – and worrying that I haven’t gone in the right direction! Something practical? Something that’s all luxury? It’s hard to know which stores or restaurants a loved one might prefer a gift from! And that is why I am absolutely in love with Happy Cards – the perfect solution for gift giving because they are all about options!
Just in time for the Holidays: Rascal Flatts performs Clement C. Moore’s ‘Twas the night before Christmas, and the audiobook is FREE today on Audible & Amazon! My wife complains every year about how hard I am to shop for. And I admit it. She asks what I’d like, and I say the same thing every time. I tell my wife, “I don’t need anything.” So how do you shop for men, and straddle that perfect line between what we need, and what we want? This gift guide will help!
Every night after our baby girl’s bath I took her to the nursery and read stories before bedtime. It provided a lovely daddy-daughter time at the end of each day. Now that she’s 10 years old I see that it inspired a love of books and reading in our daughter that is still part of her bedtime ritual. Which baby books do you recommend?
The walk I’m speaking of is the walk down the isle of a church that my wife and I took twelve years ago. And really, I’m writing not just of that walk, but of a journey… about the independent paths we both traveled to get to that wedding day, and the walk we’ve taken hand-in-hand ever since.
Or at least they should. Let me explain. It was brought to my attention by my loving wife and also by at least one commenter on my recent blog: 7 Ways to be a Better Dad (aka: “Stop and Smell the Diapers”) that I had left something important off my list. So, here is that missing guideline on how to be a better dad: HAVE FUN!
Let’s daydream for a moment of summer; the summer ahead and the hazy memories of our childhood summers past. Oh, and I’ll tell you the tale of THE AMAZING THING!
Stop and smell the diapers. Just a few suggestions from one dad to another on making the most of the most important years of our lives and those of our kids. And just to be clear, I’m writing this not because I think I’m such a great dad or because I know or do it all right. Nope, I’m writing it as a reminder to myself of a few of the things I need to focus on every day to be just a bit better as a father.
Too often parents suffer in silence after a miscarriage, believing they are alone, feeling perhaps somehow it was their fault. It’s time for the silence to end.
When the nightly news is dark and frightening, I find quotes like the following from Mr. Rogers help provide comfort and renewed confidence in my fellow man…
Why See the Film He Named Me Malala? The film fosters awareness of issues surrounding the importance of girls’ education and shows how the ordinary person can take action to help girls around the world. The …
Our children are precious to us. We talk to them about stranger danger, and we baby proof the house! We do whatever we think we need to, to keep them safe! But there are 5 …
In Disney’s Oscar nominated animated film Frozen, I was pleased to see they intentionally skewer their own fairy tale meme about “true love”. Did you see it?
My wife and I are in the middle of decluttering our home in preparation for downsizing to a much smaller new family home. Sounds easy enough, right?
I hope you can help? As a guy, I’m not always sure what books a little girl will like. What is a great book to read to a 5-year-old girl?
