A Parent’s Picks – Academy Awards 2013

A Few Fast Facts First:

  • When are the 2013 Oscars? The Academy Awards show is on this Sunday, February 24, 2013.
  • What channel are the Oscars on? ABC (Check local guide. In Dallas it’s on WFAA Channel 8)
  • What time do the Oscars start? Technically, the show starts at 5:30PM PST (So that’s 7:30PM here in Dallas), but red carpet coverage begins earlier and varies by market.
  • Who is hosting? Seth MacFarlane will be this year’s first-time host. Could be interesting?
  • What time will the Oscars end? If I could tell you that, I’d be placing bets on my Academy Award winner picks below and retire after the show. No one ever knows when it will end.

Are you a fellow parent? How many of the Oscar nominated movies have you seen? I’m a bit behind on my movie viewing. Can you identify? Barely watch any TV shows without Dora the Explorer in them. Do you watch other award shows like the Grammy Awards or Golden Globes? Me, not so much. Bet it comes as no surprise I chose The Walking Dead over Downton Abbey last night.

Speaking of Downton Abbey (this is a bit off subject) but I do have a great idea… a Walking Dead – Downton Abbey Crossover Event. Think about it. I’m certain Professor McGonagall, I mean the Dowager Countess of Grantham, could kick some serious Zombie butt! Am I right? She’s kind of scary. Definitely want her on my side! But that’s for another blog.

Back to the Oscar nominations, and my picks, for what they are worth. Quick question: are these the Academy Awards 2012 or are they the 2013 Oscars? The movies aired in 2012, right… but the awards are given in 2013? I always get that confused. So who are the Oscar nominees, and which, in my infinite wisdom (lower your expectations), will win in 2013?

Here are the Oscar nominations with adaddyblog.com’s (meaning my) picks in red. Note: I have updated this post Academy Award broadcast with the actually winners names preceded by a ,

  1. And what about the consequences? Which tips have been realized? Honestly, I feel a little bit disappointed but I don’t want to sound offensive to the fans of the winners so I better shut up. Anyway, I think that this year’s was way much better than the last one.

    1. I’m very sorry, Ursula. I started to update this with the actually winners after the awards ended, but then life (and a desperate need for sleep) intervened. 😉 It’s updated fully now. Those with the check mark in front are the actual winners. Thanks so much for stopping by!
