Describe Yourself: First Time Parent

We have had this unit for 20 months (it was on our Babies-R-Us registry) and truly cannot imagine living without it. Our baby’s nursery is on a the opposite end of our home on a different floor. This allows us not just to hear her when she cries, but SEE what’s going on with her. I was just thinking about how helpful this has been for us and decided to post a review on the Babies-R-Us website. Reading other parents’ reviews always helped us decide on stuff.

The camera portion has infrared lighting so we can see our baby in her pitch black room with no light visible to the baby. The monitor portion is quite portable with a belt clip and flip out easel type stand. It is rechargeable, and when not plugged into the charger it turns off the video screen after about 10 seconds to save the battery; you just push a button on top to turn it back on, e.g. when we hear the baby make a sound. It has an A and B setting in case someone else nearby has one as well… and one of our neighbors does.

It says that it’s a color video, and while that is technically true, at night in the dark you should not expect to see color in infrared mode. No other monitor will either. I just wanted to set the right expectation on the “color” bit. There is some static when we are a long distance from the nursery, but shifting the monitor’s position usually minimizes that. Our baby will soon be transitioning to a toddler bed, and I’ll be moving the camera to capture more of the room.

I would not want to live without it, and am very comfortable recommending it to any new parent.
