70 Top Movies by Year – What was #1 on Your Birthday?

From 1930’s “Tom Sawyer” through 2000’s “Toy Story 3”, here are 7 decades of top grossing movies for each year. What was the big movie the year you were born? I’d tell you mine, but then I’d have to kill you. 😉

One thing that surprised me, though I suppose shouldn’t have, was the shear number of Disney films in this list of top grossing annual movies starting with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs back in 1937!

25 Disney Hit Films

Here are some of the Disney films in this list: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Bambi, Song of the South, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Swiss Family Robinson…

They continue: 101 Dalmatians, Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Toy Story 3.

Are you as surprised as I was by how many Disney films are in this list? Anyway, here’s the whole list. What was the top grossing movie the year you were born? Was it Grease, ET, Top Gun…? 🙂

  1. Funny Girl! Now I feel like I should at least watch it! Thanks for the fun post! 🙂

    1. Hi Kelli. I know it doesn’t have much to do with being a dad, but I also thought it was kind of fun to see what the hit movie was the year we were born. Here’s yours:

  2. Yay! Sound of Music! Good one!

    1. That is a good one, Kelley. I’ve been playing the songs for our almost 6-year-old, but she’s not seen the movie yet. Thanks so much for dropping by!
