PHOTO: Preschool Rocks! My Daughter’s First Day

Another Nearly Wordless Wednesday:

Preschool Rocks - My daughter in her Custom Swarovski Crystals SneakersYes, I know I’m actually posting this on a Tuesday, but I couldn’t wait. If I say so myself my daughter looks so cute heading off to her first day of preschool. She just turned three years old last month. Why does seeing her leave put a lump in my throat? Of course you want them to grow up, but, well, sometimes I must confess I’d love to put her in a safe tower someplace (think Rapunzel). Is that a dad thing? Am I the only one who feels this way?

p.s. She is wearing custom Swarovski Crystals sneakers. ☚ Visit my wife’s blog for DIY instructions.

p.p.s. Feel free to tell me how cute she is. I won’t mind. 😉

  1. Oh man, I am soooo there with you. Every day my little girl gets all dressed up for school, and presents herself in all her cuteness to the family for inspection and accolades. Pink/sparklies/ribbons… Abandon all hope ‘ye who enter daddyhood.

Daughters will rock you to your core.

(here’s my take on the exact same phenomenon)

    1. Love the blog of yours you linked to. Glad I’m not the only dad who feels that way. I’ve seen that commercial you included. I’ll see if I can post it here. OMG… that sure tugs at the old heart strings. I know it’s for Subaru, which makes really great cars (and commercials), but I think I’m going to go for an M1 Abrams tank for my girl.

  2. She looks great! And I love her sneakers – hope she has a great first day of school

    1. Hi, Annie. Yes, thank you. She had two great teachers and thought it was a ball! Here’s another photo my wife took of her heading out the door. For some reason this one in particular chokes me up a bit. Yes, real men cry.

  3. She is absolutely adorable. But my favorite one is the one you included in the Comments! I just love that photo…Wonder what is on her mind as she is getting ready to face the world! ~Hugs, M

    1. Yeah, I know. Thanks. It reminds me of the Bilbo Baggin’s quote:

“It’s a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no telling where you might be swept off to. “

      [sniff]

  4. She is SUPER cute!! I saw the DIY post on the shoes…great idea! And I love the shirt!

    1. Awww… thank you so much. I must give my wife credit for both the shoes and the photo! Hope all is well with you?

  5. When my kid started preschool, I wept like a cat lady watching someone get married on a soap opera. Meanwhile, he did everything but push me out the classroom door.

LOL. Yeah, would it have killed him to have given you just one stricken “Mommy, please don’t leave me” look before shoving you out the door? 😉

  6. I love that shirt! And the shoes to match..
I keep trying to tell my kids that they can’t get any older or bigger but they know the truth by now…if only we could find a way to stop time!

    1. Hi, Amy. I just found your comment in the spam bin. Yeah, I love the shirt (and the blingy shoes). They do grow up so fast don’t they?
