I have received Rayovac’s Virtually Indestructible LED 3C Flashlight from one of my friend. I have tried to open it to take out batteries but either it is too tight or I do not know how to open it. Please explain how t o change batteries.

I don’t work for Rayovac, but do love this flashlight. To change the batteries, simply grasp the middle barrel firmly with one hand and then unscrew the bottom (the smaller end with the on-button… not the end with the bulb) counter-clockwise. You’ll need 3 C-cell batteries if the one your friend gave you is this model. Hope that helps, Abdul.

Simply? Neither my husband nor I can get it to budge. Even with a metal jar opener tool with teeth. Same goes for the top, where the bulb is, for that matter.

Thanks, Terri. I experienced a similar problem years after first using this product. I loved it originally, but apparently this is a problem others are now experiencing, and as such I can no longer recommend this flashlight. Perhaps they have corrected this problem, but you’ll want to check with them. While I quite like their products, I don’t work for Rayovac, and can’t speak to warranties or how they might suggest you address product issues. Thank you for your comment.
The batteries leaked in my Rayovac LED 3-C flashlight, have crusted-up and now I cannot remove them. Any thoughts, besides that I should have replaced them long before this ?

Hi Richie. I guess I’ve been lucky as I’ve not had any batteries leak/corrode. I’m guessing that, yes, yours may have been left in the flashlight too long. According to Rayovac, “Batteries should be removed from any device that will be stored for long periods of time.” I took the batteries out of all of our Christmas decorations before packing them up this year, but am not so good about taking them out of unused flashlights.
Hi, I just have a quick question regarding disassembling my Rayovac Brite Essentials LED Flashlight & Laser.
I know how to unscrew the bottom to replace the batteries, but for some reason I can’t seem to get the head of the flashlight unscrewed, I’ve tried twisting the head counter-clockwise, and even clockwise just to double check. I can’t seem to find any information online, so I don’t know if I’m the only person that’s needed to get inside the head of this flashlight or not… Anyway, please let me know how to get this thing disassembled fully without breaking it if possible, thanks.

Hey, Nic. Sorry to hear of your trouble. Interestingly, I ran into a similar issue and ended up throwing the flashlight away. I fear there’s probably some kind of trick that I missed, which is a bummer because I really loved this flashlight. If someone else knows, please leave a comment. Thanks!
